Greetings Wallywatchers!!
Today we decided that it would be a quiet, later starting day.
This was mainly because we are planning on doing our long drive to the Everglades and the shell beach at Sanibel Island tomorrow (Thursday) and then the Universal water park Volcano Bay on Friday, before travelling home on Saturday.
We set off at around midday (told you it was a late start!) and headed to Florida Mall (Click here for link)
The shops were brilliant – everything from Macy’s department store to toy shops, sports shops and kiddie clothes shops, as well as everything inbetween. Not long after we arrived, we were hungry (as we had not had breakfast) so headed to the Food Court, or as they call it, the Dining Pavillion.
I had a hankering for a proper 100% american burger, so went to Five Guys (Click here for link ) while Gem went to a veggie friendly place called El Meson Sandwiches (Click here for link)
My burger was gigantic – a double quarter pounder with bacon and cheese, as well as beef tomatoes, relish and ketchup. Yum yum!! As for the fries…. they were gorgeous and plentiful – the “guy” added a container to the takeaway bag, then filled up another container and emptied it into the bag on top of the existing fries and burger!! I had to dig through fries to even get to the burger!! It was delicious, however.
Gem had a “Surfer” sandwich – consisting of soy salami, two types of cheese, pickles, peppers, onions etc. etc. and Gem said it was gorgeous.
After lunch, we visited Carlo’s Bakery (Click here for link) made famous by the TV program Cake Boss. We chose a cake each to take home for tea.
We then wondered around the shops for a while, before moving on to the more upmarket Mall at Millenia (Click for link) where they had a Bloomingdale’s, Pottery Barn and Cheesecake Factory – so the Friends and Big Bang Theory tourist tour was complete. (There was also Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s and Emporio Armani, so we left pretty quickly!!
We then headed to Target, our go-to shop for tea before going back to the hotel so Gem could have a dip in the pool before tea and bed.
Tomorrow will be a long day, so we may not post the blog until the morning after.
