Greetings Wallywatchers!
Today has been the first revisit day.
We are revisiting the Magic Kingdom as we had not quite finished off the rides we wanted to, including Space Mountain and the illustrious Seven Dwarfs Mine Train that frequently had between 2 and 3 hour queues, much like the Avatar ride at Animal Kingdom.
We had Fast Pass slots for Space Mountain and Peter Pan prebooked when we arrived, so we had a spare slot, and upon arriving decided to re-ride the Pirates of the Caribbean water ride as we both loved it so much on the first day. We headed straight for the ride and were on within a few minutes. It was as charming and swashbuckling as ever.
With a little time on our hands we dropped by the Monsters Inc laugh floor, the idea being that monsters discovered that human laughter generates even more power than fear, so the challenge was to fill a canister with laughs. We were treated to funny scenes, audience participation (always a relief not to be picked) and one liner jokes, very charming and Pixar-sequel.
Next was Space Mountain, a first for both of us. We joined the Fastpass queue and headed into the unknown, Disney is very good at not letting you see all/any of the ride until you’re in it, and seeming the rollercoaster takes place in almost complete darkness I still couldn’t quite tell you. There were certainly climbs, drops, twists and turns, and the worlds longest travellator on the way out.
With over 2 hours of free time before our next Fastpass booking we joined the 70 minute queue for the 7 dwarfs runaway mine train. The queue was long, boring and rainy with a record number of queue jumpers who received the classic British complains from us, a hearty tut. After a colossal 130 minutes of anticipation coupled with bitterness we hopped aboard. While quite sweet, especially as Snow White is my favourite of the princess stories this ride was absolutely not worth the wait. It was worth doing, had the wait time been the advertised 70 minutes.
Not to be deterred we scurried straight on over to our last Fastpass and possibly our last Disney ride ever. Peter Pans flight to never land, we hopped into our flying boats, had our lap bars closed magically by fairy dust and away we went. We enjoyed a birds eye view, flying to the second star on the right and straight on until morning, as well as some more classic Disney animatronics. Before we knew it we were back at the magic kingdom and hopping out of our boat, looking sadly at the end of our Disney adventures. We consoled ourselves with giant churros while taking in one last look at Cinderellas castle.
